The job
As our new Retail & Business Services Technology Platform Architect, you'll be stepping into a leadership role as part of the management team of Antoine Wijsman. You bring leadership in envisioning and designing products and platforms for our product clusters:
• Merchandising, Master Data Management & Finance: driving and enabling Albert Heijn’s mission regarding Merchandising, Assortment & Space, Promotions, Pricing, Sourcing, Product Master Data, ESG management and reporting and core Financial processes. Tech stack: Kotlin microservices with React frontends, Kotlin and Mulesoft APIs, Oracle monolithic legacy environment (objective is to replace most of this by microservices).
• Business Support NL: our HR systems, end user management and end user experience including workplace services and service desk, and cutting edge tech solutions for supporting functions like Legal, Communication and Facilities. Tech stack: mostly SaaS solutions, some Mulesoft APIs, end user devices are Microsoft and Apple based and Apple and Android mobile devices.
• Platform Enablement: supporting all product teams in the platform with central functions like site reliability engineering, data engineering, observability and platform management.
You contribute directly to building a state-of-the-art self-service eco-system of products and automation. A mission you won’t take on solo – there will be four experienced architects in your team. You will work with other architects, users and maintainers throughout the whole organization and represent your platform in various architecture governance boards to fit your ideas into the bigger picture. You help to accelerate our product teams, so they can deliver quality customer value faster and autonomously.
Your key responsibilities include:
• Design and maintain the engineering enablement platform strategy and architecture in cooperation with the architecture community (Enterprise Architects, Product Architects and Lead Engineers).
• Setting-up and maintaining technology roadmaps for the Retail & Business Services Technology Platform.
• Ensuring privacy and security compliance by design.
• Contributing to Enterprise and Global architecture.
• Leading major engineering decisions as the knowledge leader on the latest technologies.
• Interaction with the key business domains to ensure business/technology alignment.
• Leading and developing the Retail & Business Services Technology Platform architecture team.
Your profile
• University or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science or Artificial Intelligence.
• 8+ years of experience designing and implementing technology platforms and solutions.
• Avid technologist, who cultivates innovation, acts as a thought-leader, able to concisely and articulately present to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• A deep understanding of software engineering (technologies, architecture and engineering principles and culture), and a track record of hands-on developing and shipping software.
• A deep understanding of modern integration and cloud architecture
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong to design, document, present, communicate and lead the implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient platform architectures.
• Good exposure to Agile software development methodologies and DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Continuous Integration (CI) and automated deployment
• Strong interpersonal skills and able to deal with complexity of large organizations, not afraid to speak up when sub-optimal choices are being made.
• Solution oriented and results driven.
• English and Dutch professional working proficiency.
