Vacature Global Procurement Category Leader in Apeldoorn

Our client is a global B2B market leader with 450+ employee-owners and it is a global supplier of plastic colorants and additives. Embarking on the next phase of growth, transformation and sustainable future, a strategic procurement department is key, therefore we are looking for a strategic Global Procurement Category Leader to build up procurement from scratch for categories.

The Global Procurement Category Leader will be instrumental in developing, implementing and maintaining a global category- and supply chain strategy for raw material categories and capital goods, to secure the supply, control the costs, and minimize risks.

In this role your key responsibilities are:

GLOBAL CATEGORY- AND SUPPLY CHAIN STRATEGY:

• Manage a global spend of 20 - 30 million euros for raw material procurement.
• Supervise and control raw material costs, identify risks, and reduce the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) while minimizing working capital tied to stagnant inventory.
• Foster positive, long-term relationships with global suppliers, negotiate favorable pricing, contracts, and terms.
• Incorporate sustainability and Social Responsibility considerations into raw material selection.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with global suppliers and vendors.

ACTIVE PARTICIPATION:

• Actively participate as a member of the Application Review Team.

QUALITY CONTROL MEASURES:

• Establish and maintain quality control measures to meet specific standards and requirements for Holland Colours.

FORECASTING AND MATERIAL MANAGEMENT:

• Build a forecast from own needs, secure materials, and inform suppliers of future requirements.

PROCESS IMPROVEMENT AND COST OPTIMIZATION:

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization within the category.
• Implement best practices to enhance efficiency.

COLLABORATION AND ALIGNMENT:

• Work closely with operational buyers, Head of divisions, and Technology to align sources and achieve strategic goals.

REPORTING AND COMMUNICATION:

• Provide regular updates, reports, and presentations to senior and local management on category(plan) status and other stakeholders.  

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, chemistry or a related field.
• +10 years in B2B procurement across various industries, commodities and categories. Plastic industry is a pre.
• Experience in successfully developing and implementing global procurement strategies and experience in a strategic category buyer position.
• Completed NEVI 1 or 2 training or other recognized purchasing training.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• High ethical standards to ensure honesty, transparency and integrity.
• Analytical thinking and proficiency in data analysis.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations regarding purchasing activities.
• Project Management proficiency to oversee procurement driven projects.
• Fluency in English is a must.
