About the vacancy
As a Product Manager Transport Management Systems (TMS) you will lead and oversee the enhancement, development, and optimization of our global transport systems, processes, and connections with other systems. As a product manager you will collaborate closely with transport implementation specialists, software developers, and cross-functional teams to drive system improvements, facilitate communication, and ensure the effective global operation of our transport systems. This role involves a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and strategic thinking.
What will you do?
- Establish a clear TMS need and scope with transport and country management and convert this need into a central solution requirement and system set up.
- Create a future architecture, development, and preferred software solution through market research and active engagement with potential suppliers and solutions.
- Engage with TMS systems supplier(s) to coordinate project deliverables and timelines. Prioritize tasks and or projects and approve budget-related changes in collaboration with suppliers.
- Take ownership of EDI Development and Software Connections projects. Collaborate with technical teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality of new connections.
- Serve as the first point of contact for project related requests, including replacement projects and new implementations.
- Evaluate project feasibility, align with strategic goals, and coordinate approvals.
- Conduct cross-system checks to ensure consistency and alignment.
- Promote cross-learning and best practices across different systems to enhance overall efficiency.
- Work together with Transport Implementation Specialists to identify opportunities for system and process improvements.
- To create comprehensive functional descriptions and translate into workable system solutions.
- Investigate, review, and approve system change requests, ensuring alignment with overall objectives and strategy. to ensure seamless integration within the existing framework.
- Provide second-line support for system-related questions through designated channels.
- Address and resolve complex technical issues and challenges to maintain system efficiency and functionality.
- Be the lead system architect for transport management systems.
Who are we looking for?
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience with replacement and implementation of TMS systems in large complex organizations.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Logistics/transport, or related field. Or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in logistics, transport management systems, software development processes, and EDI.
- Affinity with transport operations.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional global teams.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is a must, any other European language is a plus.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze complex problems and devise innovative solutions.
- Strategic thinking to align system enhancements with broader company objectives.
- Strong leadership and organizational abilities to drive cross-system improvements.
- Experience with market research and the ability to stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Able to travel globally to sites may be required.
