FunctieomschrijvingYou will play a key role in supporting the successful execution of a major greenfield petrochemical project in Antwerp from construction through to mechanical completion and handover. Based at the construction site, you will coordinate between engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure that design intent, quality, safety, and schedule objectives are achieved.
1. Project Coordination & Interface Management
• Act as the primary interface between site construction teams and the engineering disciplines.
• Review and interpret design drawings, specifications, and project documentation to support construction activities.
• Coordinate and resolve technical queries (TQs, RFIs) between site and engineering offices.
• Manage and track site engineering deliverables, ensuring timely responses and updates.
2. Construction Support
• Provide day-to-day technical support to construction teams, subcontractors and field engineers.
• Review and approve construction work packages (CWPs) and ensure alignment with the project execution plan.
• Monitor progress and identify potential design or material issues impacting construction sequencing.
• Support field changes, design modifications, and red-line markups for as-built documentation.
3. Quality, Safety & Compliance
• Ensure all works are executed in compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
• Participate in construction inspections, quality walkdowns, and punch list activities.
• Promote and enforce site HSE standards and participate in safety meetings and reviews.
4. Planning, Reporting & Controls
• Support the project manager and construction manager in monitoring schedule performance and identifying deviations.
• Track and report progress, key metrics, and construction performance indicators.
• Coordinate with planning and cost control teams for progress measurement and forecasting.
• Assist in preparation of weekly and monthly progress reports, highlighting technical and execution risks.
5. Commissioning & Handover Support
• Liaise with pre-commissioning and commissioning teams to ensure smooth transition from construction to start-up.
• Participate in system completion and turnover activities, including verification of documentation and readiness.
Functie-eisen• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience: 5–10 years of relevant experience in project engineering or construction engineering on large EPC or EPCM projects within the oil & gas or petrochemical sector.
• Project Type Experience: Greenfield or major brownfield site execution (>$500MM TIC preferred).
Technical Knowledge:
• Understanding of multidisciplinary design and construction processes (Civils, Structural, Mechanical, Piping, E&I).
• Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards (API, ASME, ASTM, ISO, etc.).
Skills:
• Strong coordination and communication skills across multiple stakeholders.
• Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs, and isometrics.
• Experience with project management and engineering tools (MS Project, Primavera P6, SmartPlant, Navisworks, etc.).
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced construction environment.
