For their Industry Affairs Division, based in Amsterdam, Octagon is looking for a Public and Government Affairs Specialist.

Responsibilities:

• Create and implement strategies to advocate for the industry's interests with legislators, regulatory bodies, and external organisations.
• Track and analyse legislative and regulatory changes, assessing their implications for the sector.
• Cultivate and maintain a network of industry contacts by being the first point of contact for government bodies, industry associations and external organisations.
• Represent the organisation in internal and external committees, events, and forums to advocate for industry interests in international environments and locations.
• Proactively identify and track relevant legal and regulatory developments, providing insights and recommendations to address challenges and identify opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams to align regulatory insights with broader organisational strategies.
• Draft position papers, policy briefs, and advocacy materials. These will be part of clear and persuasive messages tailored to diverse audiences, including policymakers, members, and the public.
• Contribute to the creation of content for reports, publications, and industry updates.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in public affairs, government relations or advocacy roles.
• Experience in public speaking, stakeholder engagement, and fostering relationships with diverse audiences.
• Exceptional analytical abilities to assess the implications of laws and policies on the industry.
• Proficiency in drafting compelling and professional communications.
• A degree in Public Affairs, International Relations, Law, or a related field.
• A solid understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) or other digital policy areas impacting the market research, public opinion and data analysis industry is a plus.
• Excellent command of English, other multilingual skills are a plus.
• Open to occasional travel within and beyond Europe.
