Reporting to the Executive ChefAt the Amstel Hotel, we are seeking a passionate and driven Sous Chef to lead our banqueting, breakfast, and afternoon tea operations, while supporting our à la carte kitchen when required.This is a pivotal role within our culinary brigade, combining operational leadership with creativity and a sharp eye for detail.What is the role?
As Sous Chef, you will take ownership of a diverse and dynamic part of our kitchen operation. From elegant afternoon teas to high-volume banqueting and refined breakfast service, you ensure every dish reflects the highest standards of quality, consistency, and presentation.You will:
- Lead, organize and execute banqueting, breakfast, afternoon tea preparations and employee meals
- Support the à la carte kitchen during peak or strategic moments
- Supervise mise en place, production, and service execution
- Coach, train, and inspire the kitchen team
- Ensure strict adherence to HACCP, hygiene, and safety standards
- Contribute to menu development in collaboration with the Executive Chef
- Manage stock, ordering, and cost control within your area
- Oversee staff planning and daily task allocation
You will act as a key link between the Executive Chef and the team, ensuring smooth operations and a consistently exceptional guest experience.Your Profile
- Proven experience in a luxury or high-volume environment
- Strong leadership skills with a hands-on mentality
- Highly organized, stress-resistant, and quality-driven
- Passion for both refined dining and large-scale operations
- Excellent knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and cost control
- Fluent in English
