Vacature omschrijving

Wat ga je doen?

We’re hiring a visionary Technical Product Owner (TPO) to help drive the evolution of our Integration Domain, a role that sits at the heart of our platform strategy and transformation journey. You’ll co-lead the modernization of our integration ecosystem by strategically blending commercial platforms with powerful open-source technologies like Apache Camel and microservices-based architectures.

You’ll shape and execute the roadmap for our integration capabilities while ensuring they're built as reusable, scalable services that enable teams across the organization to move faster, smarter, and with greater autonomy. From setting vision to defining migration strategies, you’ll partner with our key leaders, including the Head of Tech, Engineering Manager & Staff Engineer, to deliver integration as a true product—reliable, performant, and developer-friendly.  If you're passionate about building platforms that empower others, thrive on complexity, and are excited by the challenge of transforming legacy into modern, modular solutions—this is the role for you.

Your new team and office
You will be working alongside your peers (Integration Staff Engineer and a dedicated Engineering Manager) to help lead the team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including DevOps Engineers, QA Specialists, Software Developers, Product Architects, Staff Engineers, and the Heads of Tech. You will also work alongside other Platform Product Owners to ensure alignment across teams and deliver maximum value.

Our Engineering Enablement Department has a purpose to accelerate our teams worldwide.  We strive to provide teams with a set of tools and services to deliver quality customer value quickly and autonomously. The tools and services we provide are built with and for our engineering community.

This is how you will reinvent food retail

  • Define and maintain the product roadmap for integration platforms (Kafka, API Management, Apache Camel, Mulesoft, etc.) in alignment with global integration strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Tech, Engineering Manager and Staff Engineer to align on the architectural strategy, best practices and technical direction.
  • Collaborate with other Technical Platform Owners to create Engineering Enablement Strategy.
  • Refine strategic integration objectives and customer requests into actionable epics and stories that are ready for delivery teams to implement.
  • Translate cross-platform initiatives into one-pagers and oversee their prioritization and execution end to end.
  • Prioritize platform feature development with a focus on scalability, reusability, developer experience and operational efficiency.
  • Engage with stakeholders (internal integration teams, application owners) to understand needs and manage expectations.
  • Ensure robust documentation and platform enablement materials are produced and available on our company's internal documentation platform and internal developer platform powered by Backstage.
  • Track industry trends and emerging technologies in integration and API management.
  • Ensures balanced backlog prioritization between customer-driven features (customer-value driver & non-strategic product management) and technical enablement & maintenance, targeting an approximate 50/50 split to drive both platform evolution and sustainability.

The recipe for maximum impact

Don’t check all the boxes? Don’t worry, we probably don’t either 😉. Don’t hesitate to apply if you think you are up for the challenge, we’re happy to have a look at your resume!

  • Proven experience as a Technical Product Owner or Platform Product Manager in the integration or data space.
  • Demonstrated experience leading system migration or modernization initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, Azure Integration Services, Apache Camel, etc.), including microservices-based integration approaches.
  • Strong knowledge of modern integration patterns, APIs, event-driven architecture, and messaging systems.
  • Proven ability to work with technical teams and communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with API gateways, management tools and file transfer mechanisms.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and prioritization skills.
  • Experience with developer enablement (e.g., reusable assets, developer documentation, templates).

We’re Albert Heijn, food retail reinventors.蠀
Albert Heijn goes way back. More than 135 years, to be exact. So for millions of people, food shopping is synonymous with the Albert Heijn brand. We didn’t achieve this with a complacent, ‘hey, if it works today, it’ll work tomorrow’ approach, but by continually rethinking our propositions and staying plugged in to customer demands. More than 125,000 colleagues? Check. Over 1,250 stores in the Netherlands and Flanders? Check. The leading online food retail platform? Check, we build, run and love it.

Together we make eating better the easy choice. For everyone.
The world around us has changed, and significantly at that. These changes have impact on the lives of our customers, colleagues and partners. And therefore, also on Albert Heijn. We’re moving towards a new world with new opportunities and challenges. Albert Heijn wants more people to eat fresher, healthier and more sustainable food.

Curious about your colleagues? At AH Technology you work with the best experts in the field. In an open environment, where expertise is valued, where we learn from each other and have the freedom to innovate. We work in a hybrid way, where we meet (on average) 2 days at the office in Zaandam, what is close to the train station, and 8 min from Amsterdam ;-).  Albert Heijn the Netherlands is B Corp certified. This underscores our purpose, through which we aim to contribute to a healthier, more social, and sustainable society. B Corp certification is a designation that a business is meeting high standards of verified performance, accountability and transparency.
