An innovative technology company in the Utrecht region develops advanced measurement and data solutions for water, coastal and offshore research. Their systems are used worldwide for projects such as offshore wind farms, subsea cables, environmental monitoring and underwater research.
To strengthen the team, we are looking for a Software Engineer with a background in electronics who enjoys working with data, sensors and real-time systems.
In this role you will work on software that processes sonar and hydrophone data in real time. The software helps engineers and researchers understand what is happening underwater by analysing sound signals and combining data from different sensors.
What you will do
You will work closely with engineers and researchers to develop and improve software used in marine and offshore projects.
Your work will include:
- Developing software for real-time data processing
- Working with sensor and measurement data from sonar and hydrophones
- Building and improving signal processing algorithms
- Prototyping solutions in Python or MATLAB and implementing them in C++ or C#
- Integrating software with electronics, sensors and measurement equipment
- Analysing acoustic datasets and combining data from multiple sources
- Testing and validating systems in the lab and occasionally in the field
- Documenting software and supporting the implementation of new systems
What we are looking for
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in software
- Background in electronics, electrical engineering, physics or similar
- Experience with C++, C# or Python
- Interest in signal processing, sensor data or real-time systems
- Experience with Git or similar version control tools
- Analytical mindset and interest in working with data and algorithms
- Good communication skills in English
Nice to have
- Experience with sonar, acoustics or marine technology
- Experience with real-time systems or multithreading
- Experience with Linux or embedded environments
- Experience with data processing pipelines or Docker

- Salary up to €5,200 gross per month depending on experience
